You lie like a rug

Congressman Wilson only yelled what all of us have known since early 2008:

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the president’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill,” Wilson said in a written statement. “While I disagree with the president’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility.”

White House spokesman Bill Burton told FOX News Thursday Wilson’s apology has been accepted.

I hear that Arlen “I can’t decide whether whether I’m a RINO or a scumbag Dem” Specter is calling for sanctions. Hey Arlen, stay on your side of the Capitol, okay?

  1. It was wrong plain and simple. Obama is a prick but he is still for at least 3 more years our President. As crappy as they treated W I don’t remember an of the Dems doing this to W.

  2. They did kind of do that to Bush during a SOTU address in ’05. But still, I agree, these things have to be done properly and with decorum or we lose credibility. I would like nothing better than to see an opposition response to such a speech in a matter-of-fact tone, calmly rebutting everything with the evidence. No, we’re not going to win over the left or the press with this (or any) tactic, I’m thinking of the mushy middle/independents as the target of such a message.

  3. thanks for the correction. i still think we should be classier than the Dems but it is nice to see that they act like idiots to…and en masse.

  4. Regarding Rep. Joe Wilson’s spontaneous outburst. I am pretty sure he is within his First Amendment rights here. Also he had the guts to say it to his face. Imagine what would happen in the hall the ccp if someone dared to say that to fifo (fidel) or fifa (raulita). In marxist/fascist Cuba the guy would soon disappear. Here in the US representative Wilson only has a few democrats looking at him hard, no real big deal. I think he showed some lluevos.

  5. He has violated no law, and I suspect this may have even been premeditated. You decide to scream this out and plan ahead of time to apologize to make it look spontaneous, but the effect nevertheless is to get the media to actually look at whether or not the charge is true.

Yes, the media is trying their best to sweep it under the rug by focusing only on the outburst and apology, but by doing so they still draw attention to the charge itself from the mushy middle.

Pretty clever, but I still think a succinct, make-it-plain rebuttal — ie: Mr. President, it’s true that the bill doesn’t specifically say illegal aliens will be covered, but all amendments demanding proof of citizenship to qualify were voted out. And it’s true that it’s against federal law for illegals to get SS or Medicare, etc., but we see how poorly that’s being enforced — would do the trick. He sort of did that when the media clamored around him afterward and I think that was probably the plan all along since he knew he would have all that attention.

But it still needs to be on the up-and-up.

  6. First thing I did this morning when I got to my computer was to send $$$$$ to Wilson’s campaign.

I’m sick of pseudo conservatives and wussy reps rolling over and playing nice; the opposing side NEVER plays nice. There’s a fine line between showing respect for the office and sitting by silent while the truth is distorted and your country goes down in flames.

  7. Being right does not give you carte blanche to acted like an asshole. Being right does not give you the right to disrespect the Congress and the President. As all excited as all of you are the fact is that this battle is not to be won on the right or the left but in the big fat middle. We are on the brink of stopping the socialization of Health Care and we cannot overplay our hand with stupid outbursts like this that make us look like a bunch of stupid rednecks.

By the way not only did Wilson get a bump in contributions, so did his opponent. Now some worthless House race in SC is going to be looked upon as a bellwether on how the party does.
