It is a simple choice

Capitol Hill Cubans brings us this plea to Juanes from the family members of Cuban political prisoners.

A Tragic Plea to Juanes

Letter to Juanes From the Family Members of Cuban Political Prisoners

Those of us writing this letter are family members of Cuban political prisoners that are enduring the pain of having our loved ones in prison for their ideas. The Cuban reality is very difficult to understand by those that have never suffered first-hand the deprivation of their freedom and basic human rights.

We ask that, using the platform that is being prepared for you and your colleagues in Revolutionary Square on September 20th, you call on the Cuban government to immediately and unconditionally release all of its political prisoners.

Yours truly,

The tyrannical Cuban dictatorship affords you only two options: you are either with them, or against them.

On Sunday, Juanes must choose between those two options. Either he will be for the freedom of all Cubans including the thousands of political prisoners rotting in Castro’s gulags, or he will be for the regime that is responsible for their continued slavery and the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent men, women, and children.

The choice is simple and on Sunday, we will know which one Juanes picked.

  1. Unless he has a sudden change of heart, I’d say by his words and deeds, that he has already made that choice. Imagine the reaction should he choose to stand for freedom.

  2. If this concert plays out as expected, the take-home message is simple: make those responsible pay; make it cost them by any legal means available. Don’t get mad, get even.

It’s not just that merely getting mad is useless, it’s that it makes the bastards happy because that’s part of what they want to accomplish. They want to piss us off so they can sit back and laugh.

And needless to say, the above doesn’t just apply to this concert; it applies in general, across the board.
The usual suspects will never respect us unless we make it sufficiently costly for them not to.

  3. Indeed, now here’s some REAL dissidents….wonder if they all have internet access…? And please note the political prison terms. Those handed down by the UN’s “Hero of the World!!”are generally longer than the ones handed down by Stalin’s “courts.”

But then, Stalin’s regime was unable to enjoy the “softening” and “bridge-building” benefits of tourism and remittances.

    Absolutely Unreal.
