Stop it guys… really, we mean it… come on…

From the US State (of disarray) Department, comes this plea for peace and dialogue in Honduras.

Situation in Honduras

Ian Kelly
Department Spokesman
Washington, DC
September 22, 2009

The United States calls on all parties to remain calm and avoid actions that might provoke violence in Honduras, and place individuals at risk or harm. We urge that all parties refrain from actions that would lead to further unrest.

We stress the need for dialogue; the United States supports the proposed mission by the Organization of American States to promote this dialogue. We encourage the parties to sign and implement immediately the San Jose Accord, which remains the best approach to resolve this crisis.

We stress the importance of respecting the inviolability of the Embassy of Brazil in Tegucigalpa and the individuals on its premises. We note with appreciation the de facto authority’s statement last night promising to respect the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, to which Honduras is a party. Respect and protection for the inviolability of diplomatic premises is a universally accepted principle of international relations.

Not one word regarding the culprits behind the destabilizing act of smuggling Zelaya back into Honduras, let alone a condemnation of it. There is plenty of regurgitation of the worn out song and dance number put together by the OAS, and plenty of whining by a State Department that is at a point of losing all its credibility.

And while the US chooses to moan and whimper about the importance of the inviolability of the Brazilian embassy in Tegucigalpa, the Honduran government is making it known to the Brazilians in no uncertain terms that a brazen violation of their constitution and their sovereignty by a foreign power will be not be tolerated.

  1. In case some are too lazy to click my link, she is addressing this group behind closed doors: “CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, Asia’s leading independent brokerage and investment group”.

“Behind closed doors” means closed to the media for the most part.

  2. Hey People! My wife’s family called from Hondiras in their capital that there are strong rumors going around and on the radio that a U.S. Diplomatic plane FLEW in Zelaya in secret. That the situation on the streets is bad and because of the Commi supporters, normal citizens cant go on the street to be misidentified as a Zelaya supporter.

My inlaws are in their 70’s and they cant even go out to buy food for fear of violence. This is why the Gov flew Zelaya to CR for this exact purpose. If Obama DID infact fly him in the shit WILL hit the fan with us conservatives!

  3. Guajiro,
You must find proof of this and get it to Beck and Rush.
    Cubabuzz, thanks for the correction.
    Where was the flag flown?

  4. The tone of this article is rather strange. What a bizarre slant the author of this article has. Instead of being appalled that China should love Obama, he seems to feel good because since 1991 he has never seen such affection for an American president. He agrees with China thinking that Bush was so arrogant that only Israel liked him.
Yet he doesn’t see the irony of what he is saying. It is the first time in 18 years that China has liked an American president. So it isn’t just the “arrogant” Bush they had no time for.

My cousin in the Villages in Florida called me to tell me that in her local paper there is still good news in Honduras. The government is taking hold of the situation. they arrested some of those in the streets. The said Zelaya can stay in the Brazil embassy forever as far as they are concerned. But the minute he steps out of there, he will be arrested. They will look forward to the elections when he will become obsolete by democratic vote.
This David may embarrass the giant, America’s foolish ideas and win the day, after all. I pray this works out for Honduras and freedom. And maybe it will give others striving for freedom some ideas.

My cousin also told me, apropos of nothing here, that Rubio got a lot of good press in her area and someone of importance claimed that Rubio’s message may outstrip all of Crist’s money because Rubio is very impressive.
