Conservative and Republican

As long ago as four years ago, after the (calamitous for Republicans) 2006 mid-terms, I warned about the disaster that would befall us with the Dems in control of Congress. I was right, as usual. The Socialist onslaught that has assaulted the country thanks to a Dem-controlled Congress, and the subsequent Obama presidency, has given us a noxious political and economic goulash that will take years, maybe decades, to recover from.

If we conservative Republicans can take back Congress, that is.

I have documented my extreme dissatisfaction with the Republican Party on this blog and elsewhere. Today, the Republican Party, buffeted by the winds of change blown by the grass-roots Tea Parties across the nation, may be finally coming to the realization that conservatism is the core of its value system. I have a wafer-thin sliver of hope. RINOs are scrambling to pretend they’re conservative — McCain, especially, is back-tracking all over the place — and Republican candidates are speaking out and campaigning as conservatives despite the lies and slanders that the Dems throw at them. It seems to be resonating with a growing section of the electorate.

The sleeping giant has been awakened.

Which brings me to today’s message from Erick Erickson at RedState:

Friends, the endgame is simple — Republicans taking back Congress and beating Obama. Either that is the end game or else it is the end of America as we know it. The Democrats have already done enough damage. We can’t let them keep at it.

There is a very real difference between the parties. One party stakes its claim with freedom; the other with equality. And while “equality” sounds good, the only way to keep us all equal is to punish the successful, tear down the creative, and shut up generators of wealth and freedom, keeping us all piled up together on the government run safety net unwilling to let us merely try to succeed. I am with freedom. Therefore, I am with the Republicans.

We will remember. November 2 is just around the corner…

  1. But Crist is running as an independent. If by some terrible chance he wins, then the disaster would be huge. The msm would be smugly reminding everyone that, as they said all along, the tea party has divided the republican party and represents only a small part of America. And the same for Bennett in Utah.
We NEED the conservatives to win in each race, whether it is a three way race or one on one. We need it to stop the left, to give the msm no quarter and to take our country back.
Almost everyone I know is either unaware of who is running or who is good or not, or on the left. I despair here.
Now let’s say the mood of the country is better than I am experiencing. Let’s say there is a sea change and conservatives start winning everywhere. I hope that when we go about winning and fixing the country, that Americans understand that it is going to be painful before it gets better. Americans have short memories. I hope those who vote in our side are willing to be patient.

As my cousin’s song says, “Elections in November. We will remember that no on was listening in Washington, D.C.”

  2. Honey; I despair as well, because, as you stated, the majority of the citizenry is “unaware” and they have “short memories.” There’s energy right now, but can we keep the interest going until NOV 2nd? That’s an especially tough task given the Left’s stranglehold on the information environment. Couple that monopoly with a very ignorant, ill-informed, politically immature populace, and you have the makings of a potential disaster.

La Ventanita is right, in that fiscal issues seem to resonate with most folks, so maybe we should simplify the message for greater effect. However, I believe the Conservative philosophy, when properly articulated, will make sense to the majority and will always defeat the childish, non-sensical arguments of the liberal-left.

George is correct. Not only RINOs, but even some Democrats will scramble to pass themselves off as towing the conservative or “fresh face” line in order to remove incumbents and get elected. Beyond getting conservatives elected, we need to somehow educate the populace on the dangerous ineptitude of the Democratic Party. They need to know that the Democrat’s “fool’s gold” of a philosophy is anathema to what has kept this great nation secure and prosperous for over 200 years. They need to know that the DEM’s vision of America and the world is out of touch with over 70% of our nation. They need to know the TRUTH about the DEM’s and what they have eventually morphed into over the past 40 years; a Party dominated by those that worship at the alter of Marxist-based principles. Principles that history have proven to be a recipe for mostly misery and tyranny, with its most successful cases being firmly entrenched in mediocrity. Hell, I could go on, but…

Need to keep the energy going.
    Keep the message simple.
    Get the message out.
    Republican is better than Democrat

  3. If 70% of the nation is on our side, we should do very well this November.
I like the formulation Conservative is better than radical left or progressive left.
But If our party can get good conservatives to run, then Republican is better than Democrat will do just fine.
