“I urge a policy of comprehensive sanctions. Of total disinvestment, a complete ban on imports and exports!” (Congressman Charles Rangel)

“Oye, compay Saladrigas, con esta carta te la comiste!”

One group Charles Rangel can always count on to back his goal of unfettered commerce between the U.S. and the man he bear-hugs on his Harlem visits is–of course–The Cuba Study Group.

Fine. Now here’s Congressman Rangel regarding U.S. commerce with segregationists, rather than Stalinist/Segregationists:

“Every dollar we spend with (this regime) makes us accomplices in their crimes!” thundered Charles Rangel in 1986.

“No true friend of democracy can also be a friend of (this regime!) In any business dealings with (this regime) we become tainted by association!”

I urge a policy of comprehensive sanctions. Of total disinvestment, a complete ban on imports and exports,” in other words I urge adoption of a policy that demonstrates our total abhorrence of apartheid!”

By the way, many South African “dissidents” (mostly Zulus, as in the case of Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi) opposed the economic sanctions against South Africa backed by such as Charles Rangel…….You might recall how these were lavished with attention by the U.S. media, Congress and all their pet “South Africa Experts”.

…or is my memory faulty?

  1. Among the highlights of the ethically challenged Rangel are comments comparing the Holocaust to the Iraq War. He is a dullard
