Statement from Elsa Morejon Fernandez, wife of Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet

Via the Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet blog on July 14, 2010:

My husband Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet is a prisoner of conscience for the cause of the 75 who were imprisoned during the spring of 2003 in Cuba. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison, and he is on the list of prisoners to be released by the agreement reached between the Cuban government and the Cuban Catholic Church. Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet has publicly expressed his decision to not emigrate outside of Cuba. The Cardinal from Havana, Jaime Ortega, has said to International Public Opinion that emigration is an option and not a requirement for the release of the prisoners. On July 2, I personally spoke to Ortega and I communicated to him my husband’s decision not to emigrate. As of today, neither the Cuban government, nor the Church has communicated to either my husband or me any other information in relation to his liberty.

Sincerely,

Elsa Morejon Hernandez
Wife of Dr. Biscet

  1. As of today, neither the Cuban government, nor the Church has communicated to either my husband or me any other information in relation to his liberty.

A major fly-in-the-ointment for the regime and Ortega. When confronted by courageous and principled men, they don’t know what to do. My bet is that he will be one of the last to be released, if at all.

  2. Dr. Biscet is another Cuban freedom fighter who’s black, but not in the proper way (the Mandela way). If he were up against a Botha or Pinochet instead of Castro, Inc., people like Oliver Stone would be practically orgasmic over him, and he’d be an international celebrity by now. Hypocrisy (and political agenda) rules.

  3. 1. I would guess that all or most of the released “prisoners” will be pasty white. To further the Leftist narrative that only the white Cubans hate Castro.

    2. Look for Biscet to have an “accident” before he is released. Never put anything past Castro Co.
