EU may offer Cuba a deal

Ernesto over at Penúltimos Días reports that the EU Parliament may make the Cuban regime an offer when they meet tomorrow to discuss their Common Position towards Cuba.

A source in the European Parliament has told me that Cuba will be offered a cooperation agreement (in other words, money) and that the Cuban government will then have to decide if it will continue with its habitual arrogance since it became evident that Spain failed to obtain a consensus to abolish the Common Position, or will accept the new agreement.

I bet that the regime will sign the agreement and take the money. Then, they will continue with their arrogance and they will continue to oppress the Cuban people.

It is what they do. It is what they have always done. It is what they will always do.

  1. You’re absolutely right. The regime will accept the deal, sign whatever agreement it has to sign and then continue to do what it has always done: imprison dissidents in filthy rat and roach infested cells filled with excrement, beat them to a pulp, let them die of hunger strikes, deny them medical help, and repress the general population.

Quite naturally [no doubt cajoled by Zapatero’s gov’t] the leaders of the EU will come out satisfied because as in the past [unlike their common position vis-a-vis Apartheid South Africa and Pinochet’s Chile], they have again cowtowed to castro.

Unbelievable. It’s no wonder that all the castro regime does whenever it wants a perk is to offer yet another lame and transparently ineffectual gesture.
