The Great Oil ESS-pill Panic of 2010! (belongs alongside “Cuba’s marvelous healthcare”)

“The catastrophists were wrong (again) about the Deep Water Horizon oil spill. There have been no major fish die-offs. On the contrary, a comprehensive new study says that in some of the most heavily fished areas of the Gulf of Mexico, various forms of sea life, from shrimp to sharks, have seen their populations triple since before the spill. As word spreads that fish populations have increased, the alarmists and conspiracy theorists won’t just be wrong, they will be laughingstocks. The Great Oil Spill Panic of 2010 will go down in history as mass hysteria on par with the Dutch tulip bubble.”

Entire environmental intransigence here from our friends at NRO.

BUT REMEMBER!!! You read it first here at Babalu!–starting SEVEN MONTHS AGO!!!--and the environmental intransigence continued unabated. and still more insufferable unabation. and still more environmental intransigence!

  1. Humberto, do you believe that the oil spill actually increased the amount of wildlife? If so how?

I know in your spear fishing book you talk about how oil plaforms are great for fish life … is this similar?

  2. Mr. Mojito,

Oil platforms develop plenty of crustacean growth (for example mussels and probably others) around their underwater structures that marine life feeds on. That why marine life increases around these platforms.

Actually mussels are commercially harvested out of these platforms on a regular basis.

Humberto can add more to this fact.

  3. Humberto can elaborate more on the following that I read years ago for accuracy:

Those microbes used today to fight oil spills once they “eat” the oil molecules can be consumed by marine life without actually contaminating that same marine life.

If what I stated is true it could be the answer for the increase marine life as plenty of these microbes were released to fight the oil spill.

  4. While Katrina flames are keep light by blame America

the terrible performance of Obama during the oil spill is not target of
finger pointing and tear of garments by the usually dramatic members of the Environmental movement

  5. The oil-eating microbes nourished the bottom of the food chain…and the months long shrimp-trawling ban saved millions of the “by-catch” (i.e. juvenile fish) from death in those massive nets.
