Juanes postpones Miami concert

It seems that Juanes cannot seem to get anything right when it comes to Cuban exiles:

NEW YORK (AP) — Juanes is canceling his April 15 concert at the American Airlines Arena in Miami because it was to fall on the 50th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs Invasion, a source close to the singer told The Associated Press.

The source, who did not want to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter, told The Associated Press that when the Miami show was booked, the Colombian singer didn’t realize it was the anniversary and that it was the only date available at the time.

“Cuban exiles are pressuring us and the sponsors not to do it. … It’s not a date to celebrate in Miami,” said the source. “The pressure is big.”

A new date will be announced in the next few days. Tickets for the concert were already on sale.

I certainly hope the pressure did not make Juanes cry again.

  1. Oooh, the pressure. The intolerance. The intransigence. So unfair. Stupid Cubans. Always meddling in other people’s business. Oh. Uh, never mind.

Sadly, whenever this Juanes concert takes place, there will be Cubans in the audience. Maybe not as many as there would have been before his Havana business, but now even one Cuban there is too many. And the guy is not exactly a major talent, either; not even close. Sometimes, I wonder why we even bother to expect respect from these assholes.

As for getting all teary-eyed again, tell it to María Elvira, too. She blubbered over that Olga woman as if she’d been interviewing Mother Teresa. But hey, gotta secure that “Latino” audience.

  2. Asombra, YES, Maria Elvira securing her latino audience! You’re so right. How repulsive. In fact, every time I think of her blubbering that day, I feel a little bit of vomit at the back of my throat.

  3. As much as I detest and condemn foreign opportunists and enablers of Castro, Inc., I realize they cannot “get it” or feel it like Cubans. It’s simply not their personal problem or issue, so it’s much easier for them to be indifferent, insensitive and swinish about Cuba’s tragedy. That’s not an excuse, just reality. I reserve my deepest disgust and contempt for Cubans, even nominal ones, who do the same thing, especially when they’re not even up front about it but want to have it both ways or play both sides of the street. That is profoundly repugnant and completely, unequivocally unacceptable. We should never let such Cubans off the hook, and we should condemn them at least as much as we do the likes of Wayne Smith and Michael Moore.
