Ros-Lehtinen Comments on Castro-Sponsored Party in Washington

(WASHINGTON) – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, made the following statement on a party being hosted later this month by the Cuban Interests Section in Washington, DC, to which Members of Congress and their staffs have been invited:

“While the people of Cuba are waiting on the Havana tyranny to provide their next government-rationed meal, the Cuban Interests Section spares no expense on a party in Washington.

“The shameless hypocrisy of this event is unbelievable, but not surprising coming from a regime which criticizes the killing of Osama bin Laden but has no problem attacking peaceful Cuban dissidents.

“These latest comments about Bin Laden are another reminder of the true nature of the Castro regime and should serve as a warning to those who might wonder what this party is really all about.  The Cuban regime doesn’t seek friends, only pawns.  Those in attendance will be targeted as intelligence sources for Cuba’s relentless espionage campaign and be fed the propaganda of a desperate regime that will say or do anything to stay in power.

“I hope that those invited will not attend this dictatorship-funded event.”
