This afternoon, Reina Luisa Tamayo arrived at the Miami International Airport and set foot on free soil for the first time in 52 years. In her arms she cradled the cremated remains of her martyred son, Orlando Zapata Tamayo.
Reina’s interaction with the press and the supporters who were there to greet her was brief, but she was as full of fire and passion as always. Despite everything this women has been through in the past 16 months, her strength, her dignity, and her courage were an inspiration to everyone there. Tomorrow morning there will be a press conference where Reina will be able to make a statement and answer questions.
