The last very short couple of days have revealed some classic Joe Biden moments (and over the years there have been some real winners) inside the VP’s mind…
First there is the controversy that Biden is now using the “terrorists” talking point to refer to opposition to the Obama and democrat agenda where the debt debates and negotiations are concerned:
Vice President Joe Biden joined House Democrats in lashing tea party Republicans Monday, accusing them of having “acted like terrorists” in the fight over raising the nation’s debt limit.
Biden was agreeing with a line of argument made by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) at a two-hour, closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting.
“We have negotiated with terrorists,” an angry Doyle said, according to sources in the room. “This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money.”
Biden, driven by his Democratic allies’ misgivings about the debt-limit deal, responded: “They have acted like terrorists,” according to several sources in the room.
Biden’s office declined to comment about what the vice president said inside the closed-door session.
Earlier in the day, Biden told Senate Democrats that Republican leaders have “guns to their heads” in trying to negotiate deals.
However, Biden did come out late yesterday to clear things up … and it makes a lot of sense … if you think like Joe Biden:
The Vice President told CBS News’ Scott Pelley, “I did not use the terrorism word. . . . What happened was there were some people who said they felt like they were being held hostage by terrorists. I never said that they were terrorists or weren’t terrorists, I just let them vent. I said, “Even if that were the case, what’s been happening when you now have taken and paid the debt and move that down so we can now discuss, the nuclear weapon’s been taken out of anyone’s hands.”
Well, we all know where Joe stands on how he measures being a ‘patriotic’ American, don’t we? Oh, sure…
And we all know some of Joe’s best buds in the democrat party and the administration, not to mention the White House’s favorite “big business” rich folks (GE), are VERY patriotic in paying taxes. Uh huh…
Then there is Uncle Joe Biden’s welcoming comment in regards to Rep. Gifford’s return to doings in The House:
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., returned to Congress tonight for the first time since being shot in the head in January, casting a vote in support of the compromise debt ceiling bill.
Vice President Joe Biden, with a big smile on his face, walked to the House floor and said, “I came to see Gabby, that’s why I’m here.”. . .
When Biden was asked about what he spoke with Giffords about, he joked, “She’s now a member of the cracked head club like me.”
Did he just call Giffords a “crack-head”? Worse, did he just admit to being a “crack-head”? (I am being sarcastic you realize…) Apparently the old guy meant well, so I guess we’ll give him a pass. I just can’t help, however, being haunted by the mantra of the left and the democrats in 2008 that it was somehow a bad thing Gov. Sarah Palin would be “a heartbeat away” from the office of POTUS, should something happen to John McCain.
I do know this … For all the heated rhetoric the last couple weeks over the debt debate the fact the spend-happy opposition to making serious cuts instead of dumping the debt on the American taxpayer through more “revenues” has brought them to calling said opposition “terrorists” shows exactly how wrong it is these people are in control of our lives at every level in this government.
A comment in a HotAir post said it all for me last night:
“Same day that many Democrats are calling Republicans terrorist Giffords shows up. Where’s the post-Giffords shooting civility?” – taney71
Well, we wouldn’t expect any less from the democrats, or their bed-pan carriers in the MSM. Now we’re “baby-kidnappers” …
Unfair and unbalanced doesn’t even begin to address the loudest voices the American people are witnessing right now in this country.
Biden missed his true calling. He should have been VP for Clinton. You know, Mr. Slick and Mr. Dim. Or Ying Yang.
