The ‘Generational Shift’ in Cuban American voting that never was

The Cuba Transition Project at the University of Miami’s Institute for Cuban and Cuban American Studies blows another gaping hole in the mythical “general shift” in the voting patterns of Cuban Americans. A shift that has been highly touted, though has yet to be shown to exist.

Recent Cuban-American Voting Patterns

Much has been written in the past few years about a shift to the left of the political inclinations of the Cuban-American community. While a subtle shift may take place, with more recent Cuban arrivals, one thing is for certain: the Cuban-American vote in South Florida is still decidedly right of center.
