Throwing Out The First Amendment With The Socialist Bilge Water

How does the democrat party plan on winning over the women’s vote?

Well, by throwing-back to “the Dark Ages”…

Congressional democrats, with Barbara Boxer as their feminist leader, are convinced of this

Democratic Senators held a press conference on Tuesday to oppose a Republican-led amendment that would ensure conscience rights are protected under Obamacare, claiming the broadness of the proposal would turn the country back to the “medical dark ages” and keep women “barefoot and pregnant.”
Senators Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) led the press conference on Capitol Hill to denounce the amendment proposed by Senator Roy Blunt (R-Mo.).

The amendment, added to the federal highway reauthorization bill, would give employers the option of opting out of Obamacare’s Preventive Services Mandate for religious or moral reasons. That mandate says that all health insurance policies must cover sterilization and FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortion, free of charge.

Even if an individual or employer opposes such products or services for religious reasons they still would pay for their own health care coverage to a company that would have to provide those services to other people who wanted them. This regulation, from the Department of Health and Human Services, has been denounced by numerous religious groups, including the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and by at least 158 members of Congress.

And in all of this, the multi-term senator from California wants us to know she believes our First Amendment rights do NOT trump the socialist agenda.

Just don’t dare call her “ma’am”, ya know. But let’s hear what a conservative woman, who has been barefoot and pregnant more than once, has to say on this matter…

Here is another.

If they can shape the narrative by demonizing the opposition … religious, political, and private business, and intimidating the electorate they can sit back and allow their media sycophants do all the work for them.

This week Dick Morris explained (and echoed what I’ve been saying) how the ABC debate in New Hampshire was a set-up for this whole political dust-up over contraception because the democrats cannot use “abortion/choice” to run against the republican candidate with polling numbers across America showing a majority against it on several levels. However, if you are not a Dick Morris fan, there are others making this same connection, especially in the wake of the recent news of a liberal think tank’s and media operatives’ close association with the White House, comrades (Yes, there’s ALWAYS more…). But while we find ourselves currently defending the First Amendment in its basic existence, the democrats and the media have succeeded in removing focus on this administration’s failed policies that have our economy drowning. This leads us, inevitably, to the top Tweet of the last three years

I have to throw in an important footnote here:

In the past couple weeks of the Catholic Church’s blow-up over the HHS “women’s healthcare” mandate (and look who advised the administration) I cannot help but recall in 2008 Catholics not only supported but voted for Obama in the general election. In addition, many in America’s Catholic bureaucracy (mostly in the liberal wing) strongly supported ObamaCare’s passage into law. They are now reaping what they have sown.

They should have been shoulder to shoulder with the TEA Party and the anti-ObamaCare activists protesting on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. (and around the nation) two years ago.

And then my memory takes me back to perhaps the most powerful ad during the 2008 election cycle, and I am puzzled by my own layperson prescience in the face of those in the Church’s hierarchy that were so easily swayed by the dealer trying to sell them the fake Rolex on the street corner as “hope and change”.

This 2012 general election cycle, we have come full-circle. They weren’t listening then … Are they awake and paying attention now?

Listen to George Will again. It’s NOT about women’s healthcare services an organization feels are outside its ideology/dogma. It IS about breaking down the pillars of this country that have upheld our rights and freedoms … even if it winds all the way back to the sacred trust between a parent and a child.

It is ALL about control over every aspect of our lives.

Of interest:

I happened to catch two back to back programs on CSPAN 2 last week.

The first was at the National Press Club with pro-contraception student groups from Catholic universities basically cheering Obama on this mandate. They even insisted that by paying over $50K/year to attend the universities the institutions OWED them FREE contraception in whatever/any form. One of the Kennedy broads was there too (47 mics).

The second was a panel of guys (lawyers) I hadn’t seen/heard before that are involved in building a legal defense/offense against this mandate and the government (1:21).

What was one of the most striking things said was something an older gentleman in the audience pointed out regarding Nazi Germany during a Q/A.

  1. We’re paying for 3-4 decades of cowardice and poor catechesis in the Catholic Church. As George Will noted, the U.S. bishops were mostly in favor of ObamaCare. Of course, Obama and his people are going to think, “hey if they were on board with me then, I can pretty much do what I want with the gritty details”. Hence, the HHS mandate. How can the Catholic laity be trusted to make proper conscience decisions when, by and large, it hasn’t been properly instructed on what IS right and wrong. That explains as much as anything why Obama won the Catholic vote in 2008 (despite outstanding ads like the one from CatholicVote) and may very well win it again in 2012. Yes, the past 10-15 years have seen a much-needed renewal in Catholic orthodoxy and bishops like Cardinal-designate Dolan are exerting a positive influence. It may be too late to stop Obama, however.

    • After the recent Cuba actions the Church has taken, and some unrelated negative events in my parish, I’ve told my wife that not one cent of our hard-earned money is to be given to the Archdiocese. I’d rather give it to another charity than have these folks use my money for ill purpose. All Catholics, lapsed or otherwise, that are outraged about what is going on, should enthusiastically vote ‘NO’ with their wallets.
