Cuban doctor in Havana declares himself on hunger strike ‘to the death’

Punt de Vista is reporting that Cuban doctor Jeovany Jiménez Vega has declared a hunger strike in Havana to protest his prohibition from practicing medicine put in place by the Castro government. According to Jimenez, the ban came as retaliation from the Cuban dictatorship when he became a spokesperson for a group of 300 medical professionals on the island demanding better working conditions and better pay. According to Jimenez, he will continue his hunger strike until the government allows him to practice medicine again or until he dies.
