Fudgy Pop-Off: Bob Beckel’s “Oh Fuuuudge!” Moment on Live TV

“Only I didn’t say “Fudge.” I said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the “F-dash-dash-dash” word! It was all over – I was dead. What would it be? The guillotine? Hanging? The chair? The rack? The Chinese water torture? Hmmph. Mere child’s play compared to what surely awaited me.”

Just bite the bar of soap and move on. However, it is not Beckel’s F-bomb I take issue with. It is what followed…

The man is on TV on FNC more than once a day. As a professional, he should know better. And like a true-blue blameless liberal hack Beckel snipes at Sean Hannity to “run your show better” … But by the end, when Beckel realizes he is caught dead-to-rights at being totally wrong he states, “I’m going to be fired” (yet STILL blames Hannity) … Wherein Sean Hannity insists he will go-to-bat in defense of him so that does not happen.

I generally like Bob Beckel. He is a fully-self-aware “ass”. I realize he is a loose cannon with his lazy slurred liberal thoughts dropping down from his skull and rolling off his tongue like a sticky leftist gumball. I also notice on FNC’s “The Five”, where Beckel co-hosts, he adds entertainment to the table panel, but often comes off as seriously misogynistic with the female hosts. He also likes to fall back on highlighting his days of being a substance addict as some sort of endearing detail. He has had cussing gaffes on “The Five” (not to this degree). The fact that he had this colorful candid exchange with Jennifer Stefano (while believing they were still in commercial break) makes me ponder if he were a republican/conservative talking-head would the media world now be screaming about how much of a chauvinist pig he is (proving their current meme of the GOP “War on Women”), and how he actually owed Stefano the apology? Beckel’s fudgy pop-off was a typical liberal/leftist tactic to end a discussion/debate, because said liberal has run out of anything of worth to add to the exchange. But Jennifer Stefano makes the biggest and best point in all of this heated debate we are having, and comes out the far more intelligent (starting @ 3:07)…

Writer Scott Baker @ The Blaze reminds (and as a former broadcaster in radio and TV I echo):

One of the oldest rules in broadcasting (I’m thinking back to my TV anchor days) is that you should always assume that your microphone might be live. Yet time and time again we see that rule violated. And often it comes right at the moment when the commercial break ends.

But, perhaps, Bob Beckel just figured the word was now acceptable to use on cable news programs after CNN’s recent handling of it (Note: CNN blanks-out the two offensive words on the FaceBook screen grab)…

Problem is, really nobody watches CNN, Bob (tree … falling … forest). Hannity’s nightly TV show is consistently in the top three in the ratings night after night.
