Today, Venezuela will make a choice between slavery or liberty, or perhaps it won’t

Today, Venezuelans will go to the polls to choose between slavery or liberty. They will choose between the corruption and tyranny of the Chavez legacy embodied by the Castro-trained and Castro-controlled Nicolas Maduro, or the promise of a return to democracy and liberty offered by candidate Henrique Capriles.

Unfortunately, elections in Venezuela are nowhere near being free and fair. In all likelihood, the result of today’s vote was determined weeks ago by the corrupt machine left behind by Hugo Chavez and the Cuban agents who control the Venezuelan government. Regardless of what the actual vote may be today in Venezuela, most likely we will only see a doctored and predetermined vote count showing that the Venezuelan people have supposedly chosen slavery over liberty.

It is a sad commentary on the state of liberty in South America and the stranglehold corruption has on the region. Nevertheless, there are activists in Venezuela who fight for freedom and democracy because you never give up on liberty.
