Murals That Glorify Che Guevara Should Not Be Displayed in Irish Town; Ros-Lehtinen Deeply Disappointed That Locals Put Up Their Own Displays

(WASHINGTON) – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, made the following statement on reports that some residents of County Clare, Ireland, restored murals of the Marxist murderer Che Guevara. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

“I’m extremely disappointed to see some people of County Clare, Ireland continue to honor the sadistic murderer Che Guevara. Earlier this month, local authorities did the right thing and took down the mural of this bloodthirsty killer, but this weekend some local residents put up several more murals of his likeness. I only wish the residents of County Clare would take the time to read about Che and his brutal history before acting so insensibly toward the memory of those he summarily executed and their grieving families. Today millions of Cubans continue to suffer under the dictatorial Castro regime that he enthusiastically helped install, and his glorified image is insulting and painful to these freedom-starved people who yearn for liberty.”
