“Hurt so good, come on baby make it hurt so good!”

“If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America. They don’t care for human beings. What I am condemning is that one power, with a president who has no foresight and who cannot think properly, is now wanting to plunge the world into a holocaust.” (Nelson Mandela 2 months after President Bush awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.)

Now U.S. flags at half mast and a huge U.S. delegation heading to South Africa for the funeral extravaganza.

On the other hand, under penalty of torture-chamber and/or firing squad the Bay of Pigs prisoners refused to condemn the U.S.–though they thought such a statement might save their lives. You’ll search long and hard for a good word about the Brigadistas from the type of Americans who hail Mandela (Ted Cruz and George Bush excepted)…

“We will die with dignity!” 2nd in command of Brigada 2506 Erneido Oliva replying to his Castroite interrogators while refusing to condemn the nation that had just betrayed him and his Band of Brothers at the Bay of Pigs.)

“Those Americans have a masochistic streak. They’re like women. The more you slap ‘em around the better they behave.” Former Brazilian pres. Janio Quadros

Ready to party... former South African President Nelson Mandela.

  1. Evidently, Mandela could be as boorish and classless as Cassius Clay, aka Muhammad Ali. Bush shouldn’t be going to his funeral, but everyone else is, so whatever.
