Marco Rubio raises the 53-prisoner issue to higher visibility

Marco Rubio

Free The Cuban Fifty-Three ! (And while you’re at it, free the other eleven million, too).

Senator Marco Rubio is pressing the issue of those unreleased and unnamed Cuban political prisoners, and has suggested that all upcoming talks with the Castro regime be cancelled until this issue is settled.

Of course, the usual suspects in the news media are putting a purely political spin on Rubio’s statements, suggesting that he is merely looking for “ammunition” he can use against the current occupant of the White House.

But there is no getting around the fact –no matter how that fact is spun — that Raul Castro is thumbing his nose at the U.S. and having a great time celebrating his great triumph over the imperialist Yanquis.

One does not have to be a psychic or clairvoyant to predict that King Raul will keep toying with the White House, much like a cat who has just caught a fat juicy mouse.  He knows that the current occupant of the White House is fond of the so-called Revolution deep in his heart and that he has struck this deal in order to claim historical significance for himself.  King Raul knows all too well that he can squeeze more concessions from the U.S. and that the process of toying with the American president’s vanity will be very amusing.

What can we look forward to?  More toying with the mouse, more concessions from the U.S., louder and louder laughter in Havana.

In the meantime, however, as the usual suspects praise the “historic” policy shift  of the current occupant of the White House, Marco Rubio and others who know what is really going on refuse to cave in as they steel themselves for a tough fight ahead.

Si, por favor, Obamito, dale los mismos regalitos a Kim que me distes a mi....
Prisoners?  What prisoners?  Deal?  What deal?   I fart in your general direction, Obamito.  Your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elderberries.  Now cough up some more concessions, or I shall taunt you further.

U.S. senator wants Cuba talks canceled over prisoners’ fate

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, a leading opponent of President Barack Obama’s restoration of ties to Cuba, called on the administration on Tuesday to cancel upcoming talks with Havana at least until dozens of detainees are released.

The promised release of 53 people Washington considers political prisoners was part of Obama’s Dec. 17 announcement that he planned to normalize relations with Cuba after decades of hostile relations with the island.

The White House has steadfastly refused to release the names of the 53. A State Department spokeswoman said on Tuesday some had been released, a day after saying she could not publicly confirm that even one had been let go. She did not provide a number.

The fate of the detainees has provided ammunition for congressional critics of Obama’s policy shift. Rubio and others have said they will seek to slow or block moves toward improved ties with Havana…

…Rubio said Roberta Jacobson, the assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere Affairs, should cancel a trip to Havana later this month to discuss normalizing relations at least until the 53 are released.

“Almost three weeks after your Cuba announcement, there is absolutely no reason why any of these individuals should be in prison or the targets of repression – or for their identities, conditions and whereabouts to remain such closely held secrets,” Rubio said in a letter to Obama dated Jan. 6.

  1. Prof. Eire, te lo comiste, with that hilarious picture of raul! By the way, just one correction, I think that the proper noun for raul, is not “king” but rather “queen.” So that we might instead say:

“One does not have to be a psychic or clairvoyant to predict that Queen Raul will keep toying with the White House…”

That said, at the risk of repeating the obvious, Obama has to be the worst president we have ever had. The worst thing is that he is not only an incompetent president, he’s also an SOB. It’s a horrible combination and Cuba is suffering because of it.

  2. Yes, Rayarena, thanks, you are correct. “Queen” is a more appropriate royal title for Raulito. The only drawback is that non-Cubans may not catch the reference to all those rumors about Raulito’s sexual orientation. Maybe it’s time to educate the non-Cuban public?
As for the current occupant of the White House: I can no longer bear to mention his name or to write it or to hear it.

  3. Yes, it would be good to teach the non-Cuban public. As a Cuban, I’ve heard many stories. One story I heard from various sources is that raul gets his men from within the ranks of the Cuban Armed Forces which of course he commands. I remember talking to various Cubans that were living in exile, but had been in the military and they all collaborated the same story that raul will pick out men in the military that catch his roving eyes. He’ll promote these men in exchange for sexual favors, so that many of the high ranking military personal have slept with and penetrated raul. You see, raul is what we in Cuba call a “loca.” He plays the part of the woman in bed. He likes virile bugarrones. One source told me of a neighbor of his who had caught raul’s eye. This guy was married and did not want any part of raul’s games, so raul would harass the young man in an attempt to pressure him.The G-2 would follow him around and station their car in from to his house. He had his telephone tapped, etc.. Apparently raul is very jealous and doesn’t like his men to wander. I don’t know what happened to the young man, if he eventually succumbed and slept with raul or what happened. Let’s not forget that before he rose to power, raul was called la china [the Chinese woman].

  4. His sexuality makes no difference, but if he’s gay, he’s even more of a fraud than he’s already known to be. There’s also the matter of the heavy-duty persecution of homosexuals by the Castro regime, including forcibly putting them in horrific concentration camps to “make men out of them,” which he certainly knew about and went along with (even though his daughter, the Cuba sexpert, now claims it was all some sort of “oversight”).

  5. Sure, the 53 should be released by now, but their release means NOTHING. They can be jailed again anytime the regime wants, and even if they remain out of jail, they’d never be free from surveillance, restrictions and harassment. NOBODY in a totalitarian system is truly free apart from the dictator, which is why this “concession” by Castro, Inc. is just a PR ploy to make it appear Obama “got” something from Havana. The only thing he got, besides Alan Gross, is “legacy” material, which was the whole point. He didn’t even push for the extradition of so much as a single fugitive American criminal harbored by Cuba, notably the Chesimard/Shakur woman, who’s on the FBI’s most-wanted list. In other words, the whole Obama-Cuba deal is cynical, self-serving bullshit–Obama’s specialty.

  6. Asombra, if there is anything in this world that characterizes the castro clan its hypocrisy and the obscene never-before-seen level of fraud that they embody. Not only was raul in on the persecution of gays in Cuba, but according to the documentary, Improper Conduct, that details the persecution of gays inside Cuba, raul was at the forefront of persecution of gays and even went to China to find out how the Chinese had dealt with their “gay problem.”
