Quote of the Day – Despite Obama’s green light to repression in Cuba, the Ladies in White will not give up

Berta Soler, leader of Cuba’s Ladies in White, a dissident group consisting of female relatives of political prisoners who are violently attacked and arrested almost every Sunday when they silently and peacefully march in Cuba after church, in Martí Noticias (my translation):

“The regime’s repression has worsened because they are benefiting from impunity. They now feel empowered by this new relationship between the U.S. and Cuban government. It is as if they have been given a green light. […] We will continue nonetheless, in spite of the beatings and the imprisonments, we will continue to take to the streets. We will not stop, there is nothing that can stop us.”
