Kardashians, Kanye West, Gisele Bundchen, Karl Lagersfeld (the cream of the world’s most beautiful and coolest people!) produce tourism commercial for most racist, misogynistic, homophobic regime in recent history

(Gisele Bundchen in Havana sporting the coolest fashion statement in the world today for Chanel’s Havana fashion show/extravanga!

Well, Che? What about Armenian-Americans?….any thoughts?

You KNEW it was coming, amigos!  On the heels of Obama, The Rolling Stones and Karl Lagerfeld and Gisele Bundchen, the Kardashians have burst upon the coolest scene on earth: Stalinist/Apartheid Cuba!

So what’s important to “cool” people? What do they always make a major media spectacle of denouncing? Well, let’s see?….right off the top of my head…seems like:

*Any (supposed) infringement of the rights of Blacks, Women and Gays, sure seems to get them riled up for the nearest paparazzi, right?

OK, so what makes Cuba currently “coolest place on earth?”–hosting a Chanel fashion extravaganza and the world’s coolest people?…Well, best we can figure it’s:

*Jailing and torturing the most an longest suffering black political prisoners in the modern history of the Western Hemisphere–many more than in Apartheid South Africa in fact.

*Jailing and torturing the most and longest suffering women political prisoners in the modern history of the Western Hemisphere.

  1. So is Lagerfeld embalmed, or just hideously ugly? He and Alicia Alonso would make an excellent pair–talk about the living dead. As for Bundchen, she’s just sad, no better than Paris Hilton. There’s no point even addressing Mr. and Mrs. Kardashian, who are so overexposed they might as well be traffic noise. And the band played on.

  2. The hypocrisy and opportunistic BS will never stop of their own accord; they’re way too “normal” and well established to bother anybody except “those people,” who obviously don’t count (and offending them is not only OK but righteous in the eyes of many of the offenders). The world is and will remain resolutely full of shit regarding reactionary, I mean “revolutionary” Cuba. All we can do is take note, never forget, and act accordingly insofar as possible–and at the very least, NEVER disgrace ourselves by being part of the problem, even if we are not part of the solution.

  3. Putting on this kind of VERY upscale and elitist spectacle designed for the self-indulgent rich in a place like Cuba is not much different from doing it in Haiti, meaning it is essentially obscene and grotesquely insensitive. However, unlike Haiti, Cuba is all the rage right now, and ordinary Cubans have never mattered anyway, neither to Castro, Inc. nor to to the outside world. If the people have no bread, let them eat images of high-fashion models prancing around in clothes they cannot even dream of wearing. If it works for Mariela Castro, who was of course in attendance, it must be OK.
