Imagine any news organization in the world saying: “Happy Birthday, Adolph!” (Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Mein Führer!) or referring to him as “leader of Germany’s Nazi party” rather than as “monster” or “mass murderer.”
Imagine the Führer’s birthday celebrations being described breathlessly, along with the love his people have for him, with no mention of the Führer’s darker side….

Cuba ready to party as Fidel Castro turns 90 on Saturday

Fidel Castro, the former leader of Cuba’s communist party, turns 90 Saturday, and Cuba plans to celebrate the occasion.
The Cuban Institute of Music will be hosting “a great cantata and concerts” across the country.
“Over one hundred children’s choirs and concert bands will sing in unison, across the country, at cultural institutions, in squares and parks to celebrate with a lot of joy the birthday of Fidel, the father of all of Cuba’s children,” the institute wrote in a press release.

The usual suspects might as well be honest about their perversity, since it’s plenty obvious and they know they’re covered. Besides, it will piss off “those people,” which is always a bonus. After the “correct” response to “those people” celebrating what they thought was Nosferatu’s impending demise some years back (with which you, Carlos, are very familiar), one could hardly expect anything else now. Same shit, different day.
Even the most “impartial” take on Fidel from “correct” sources will always be “nuanced” to the point of neutrality, if not outright absolution. Needless to say, such exquisite and ever-so-tolerant parsing is never used for official villains, Batista being an obvious example. It is what it is. All we can do is tirarlo a mierda and take care of our own business.
