From the newspaper that likes to think of itself as Spain’s version of the New York Times:

Two dictators, two very different headlines.

Left: Augusto Pinochet of Chile: “Pinochet dies without answering for his crimes in a court of justice”

Right: You know who: “Fidel Castro dies, symbol of revolutionary dreams”

  1. Spain’s glaring hypocrisy on Pinochet vs. Fidel is very old news, but yes, one would think they’d be a tad more subtle about it by now. However, I’m afraid it’s quite hopeless. In the same vein, in the Galician village where the father of the beast was born, and where the miserable hovel of his birth is intended to be made a museum, there was a ceremony in honor of its deceased “favorite son” this past Sunday, as seen here:

    They could have at least had the minimal decency of using only red flowers–red like blood.
