When it comes to Cuba and the murderous Castro dictatorship, the stupid remarks made by celebrities, academics, and politicos are endless. Usually, the remarks are different versions of “sure, Cubans are oppressed but they have free healthcare and education” and “for people living in abject poverty and misery, Cubans are a relatively happy bunch.” However, once in a while, one of these useful idiots will raise the bar of stupidity and say something that is not only highly offensive, but utterly moronic.

Enter Colorado governor John Hickenlooper, a rising star in the Democrat party. After a vacation in apartheid Cuba where he met with various officials from the Castro dictatorship, the governor was enthusiastic about the prospects of the U.S. improving relations with the corrupt, murderous, and brutally repressive Castro regime.

But, you may ask: What about justice and all the crimes against humanity committed by the Castro dictatorship, the thousands assassinated, the hundreds of thousands imprisoned, and the enslavement of millions of Cubans?

Governor Hickenlooper is not worried about the Castro dictatorship’s past crimes because after all, most of those victims are dead and gone.

In Cuba visit, Colorado governor sees government desire to work with Trump

HAVANA The governor of Colorado said on Sunday he believes the Cuban government wants to further improve relations with the United States under President Donald Trump, as he wrapped up a three-day visit to the Communist-run island nation.

[…]

Hickenlooper said he did not doubt many innocent people were hurt during the early years of the Revolution, but most of those involved had passed away.

“The younger people seem eager to build a relationship with the United States,” he said.

  1. I’d say more, but it’d be like shooting fish in a barrel–this jackass is beneath disdain. One can only imagine his constituency. Well, at least he lives up (or down) to his surname.

  2. OK, so I couldn’t resist saying more.

“Hickenlooper said he did not doubt many innocent people were hurt during the early years of the Revolution, but most of those involved had passed away.”

Because, you know, after the early years, no innocent people in Cuba were ever hurt or victimized again by the Castro system, none at all. Mr. Hickenlooper, of course, is an unassailable authority on the matter, unlike “those people.”

Maybe he’s just really, really stupid. Or maybe he’s worse.
