The photos above tell the story of this past Sunday’s violent repression in Cuba better than words could ever hope to do. Cuban State Security deployed not one, not two, not even three, but five agents to brutally attack and arrest one defenseless woman: Ladies in White leader Berta Soler.

It is sadly the 128th telling of this story. The exact same story based on the exact same violence and brutality by Cuba’s apartheid Castro dictatorship that has played out 127 Sundays before it. When Sunday came to an end, at least seven women found themselves arrested and thrown into a dungeon.

According to the Castro regime, these women are guilty of a heinous crime. Their weekly attempts to attend church services and march peacefully in a silent public protest calling for the release of political prisoners is an affront to the Cuban dictatorship. It cannot and will not be tolerated by the apartheid regime.

The defenseless women must be confronted. They must be viciously beaten. They must be arrested and thrown into a jail cell. They must be stopped.

That is how confident the Castro dictatorship feels about its grip on power that it cannot allow women to attend church and walk the streets all dressed in white.
