Loosely translated from Marti Noticias

Arianna López Roque demands the end of the harassment in prison against her husband, the Cuban political prisoner Mitzael Díaz Paseiro.

The activist Arianna López Roque was transferred this Thursday morning to the General Hospital of Placetas, in Villa Clara, after suffering a faint on the third day of her hunger strike.

Lopez Roque, a member of the Zapata Tamayo Orlado Civic Resistance Front, began fasting on Monday to demand an end to the harassment of her husband, Mitzael Díaz Paseiro, in the La Pendiente prison in Santa Clara.

Dissident Donaida Pérez Paseiro told Martí Noticias that the striker was treated at the hospital, where the doctors found that “her blood pressure and heart rate were high” and determined to give her medical assistance, but López Roque “refused to receive it” .

The hunger-striking dissident asked to return home, where she  “remains weak, without urinating, with dizziness and reject medical attention and hospitalization while he is conscious,” said other members of the opposition.

With her hunger strike, López Roque demands that the harassment against her husband, FRCOZT activist, arrested last November and punished by three years in prison for the crime of “social dangerousness” cease.

Members of the opposition group have denounced that the sanction against Díaz Paseiro is in retaliation for publicly opposing and reporting irregularities during nominating assemblies of candidates for municipal elections on the island.
