Spanish singer who feasted on lobster with Cuba’s Booger Princess Mariela Castro cancels Miami performance

Shameless display of privilege

From our Only in Miami Bureau

A photo of a lobster dinner shared by Spanish singer Pastora Soler and Princesa de los Mocos Mariela Castro has caused quite a stir in Miami.

Anywhere else on earth, the photo wouldn’t even be noticed, but Miami is a very special place.

Only in Miami are there enough people who know that to eat lobster with the Booger Princess in Castrogonia is to display the most grievous sort of moral turpitude.

The singer has cancelled her Miami concert as a result of the outrage caused locally by her lobster feast in Cuba.

Santa mierda de los perros de San Lazaro, compare this to the reception the Booger Princess received at Harvard in 2010 when she was invited as a Visiting Scholar by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies.

A Visiting “Scholar” no less!

From El Jeral (Miami Herald):

Spanish singer Pastora Soler has suspended her Dec. 1 concert in Miami because of photos showing her dining on lobster in Havana with the daughter of former Cuban ruler Raúl Castro.

“The concert was canceled due to the photos with the Castro family that became public,” a source at the VIP Theater in Miami where the concert was to take place told el Nuevo Herald.

The concert was part of Soler’s international La Calma tour, which she has been promoting with a video posted on social networks.

“The tour will pass through Miami, a place that has given me so much love,” the singer declared before the photos of her dinner with Mariela Castro led to a change in plans.

The singer accompanied several Cuban LGBTI activists Monday for a dinner celebrating the 30th anniversary of the National Center for Sex Education, headed by Mariela Castro. Also at the dinner, overlooking Havana’s seaside Malecón boulevard, was Carla Antonelli, a lawmaker from the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party.

Pastora Soler

The deputy director of the sex studies center, Manuel Vázquez Seijido, criticized news reports that focused on the food and not the center’s work on behalf of the LGBTI community…

…Vázquez said lobster was not among Mariela Castro’s “preferred foods,” an argument that failed to dampen criticism of the meal in a country where the average salary barely hits $30 per month.

Soler performed in Havana’s Mella Theater for a gala event also marking the 30th anniversary of the sex studies center, where she was also seen celebrating with Castro.

She posted several tweets marking her stay in Cuba. “From Cuba, a moment I will never forget,” she wrote in one post, which led others on Twitter to post photos of her lobster dinner.

“Thanks for joining those who have destroyed Cuba and killed Cubans by the thousands. You didn’t have to do that,” wrote Rubén Fernández, a Cuban-born Spanish citizen.

  1. Ordinary Cubans can’t even dream of eating lobster, which is also illegal (for commoners, I mean). Only the elite can do it, as they’ve been doing for ages, but in the past that stayed out of the public eye. I expect the idiot who went to this shindig and posted the photos, no doubt to show off his or her privileged status, is now in trouble.

As for the Soler person, whom I’ve never heard of, I suspect her Miami concert may well have been cancelled due to poor ticket sales, with the lobster incident as a perfect excuse to save face as well as play victim to “those people.” You’d better believe this will get her FAR more publicity than if there had been no lobster business and she’d given the concert as scheduled.

  2. The cow at far right is almost certainly Antonelli, who’s a transsexual and would be right up Mariela’s alley. Soler, I expect, is probably one of those female pop singers with a significant gay following. The whole “gay rights” angle, of course, is absurd in the context of Cuba, where nobody has basic civil rights regardless of sexual orientation, but these foreign enablers of Castro, Inc. always mysteriously fail to see the obvious.

  3. What is this “VIP Theater” where Soler was supposed to sing? Google doesn’t show that in Miami. What gives?
