Mexico deports over 100 Cuban refugees back to Cuba while allowing Latin American migrants to remain

Thousands of Central American and South American migrants have traversed through Mexico in “caravans” on their way to the U.S. border without any interference from the Mexican government. Cuban refugees who have traveled to Mexico to do the same, however, have not been so lucky.

Over the past couple of weeks, the government of Mexico, led by leftist president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), has detained over 100 Cuban refugees in Mexico and deported them back to communist Cuba.

Via Martí Noticias (my translation):

According to Mexico’s National Institute of Migration (INAMI), another group of 57 Cuban immigrants were deported back to the island on Friday afternoon.

On March 27th, the Cuban News Agency reported that 66 Cuban nationals had already been deported from that country.

The agency reported the individuals were sent back via airplane after “they were found to be in Mexico illegally.”

A video report by Cuban state media outlet Prensa Latina confirmed the news. One of the women deported said she was part of a group that spent “six days… three of them without eating, camped out on the shores of the river.”

The woman, who was not identified, said in the video she regretted “the experience I lived through, I will not live through that again.”

INAMI said on their Twitter account that “The deportations took place in accordance with the current migratory norms and procedures.”

Apparently, Mexico only has an issue with illegal immigration when those migrants are fleeing the tyranny of their ally, Cuba’s communist dictatorship. All other immigrants are welcome to pass through.

  1. Many of them, if not all, are entering Mexico via Nicaragua with the very aid of the Cuban regime.

This serves Castro Inc. in various ways. First, it is a way for the regime to sell “salidas” and make money. Second, it is a preemptive exodus being facilitated for the sake of releasing internal pressure against the regime. Thirdly, it increases a border crisis for USA – the one the leftist media says President Trump is “creating” .

Rest assure, those being caught and returned are only a percentage.

  2. Mexico is seriously contemptible, even apart from its Cuba policy. Talk about unworthy of respect.
