Over the past 20 years, Cuba’s Castro dictatorship has made billions of dollars off Venezuelan oil. Daily oil shipments consisting of tens of thousands of barrels have been going on for two decades. Venezuelan oil has almost single handedly saved the Cuban dictatorship from economic collapse in addition to making the Castro family dictatorship millions of dollars.
This is the primary reason Cuba’s Castro dictatorship is refusing to remove the bloodsucking tentacles it has wrapped around Venezuela. Venezuelan oil is a major source of revenue for the Cuban regime and it is not about to give it up so easily.
Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) understands that if you cut off the oil, the parasitic Castro regime will unlatch itself from Venezuela and search for a new host to suck dry (via The Washington Examiner):
Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., floated using a naval blockade to prevent Cuba from obtaining oil from Venezuela as he “wholeheartedly” backed President Trump’s suggestion of placing a full embargo on Cuba.
Scott, who argued Cuba is “the most powerful force propping up” Venezuela strongman Nicolás Maduro, said that sanctions imposed last month designed to bar the transfer of oil from Venezuela to Cuba have been unsuccessful and naval assets must be deployed to ensure the sanctions are enforced.
“It’s clear that the United States needs to consider using naval assets to block the flow of oil between the two dictatorships,” Scott said in a statement Wednesday. “The President has floated the idea of a full embargo on Cuba. I agree with him wholeheartedly. We need to take action NOW to capitalize on Maduro’s weakness and end his brutal regime. Cut off Cuba, and you cut off the political forces supporting genocide in Venezuela.”
If you remove the financial benefits of free oil the Cuban dictatorship has been enjoying, you also remove their motivation to maintain their puppet dictator in Venezuela.
