Senators Menendez and Rubio demand extradition from Cuba of convicted killer Joanne Chesimard

Cuban-American Senators Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced a resolution in the U.S. Senate that demands the extradition from Cuba of Joanne Chesimard, a convicted killer who murdered a New Jersey State trooper in 1973 and then fled to Cuba after escaping from prison in 1984.

Chesimard (a.k.a. Assata Shakur) has been living in Castrogonia ever since.

Good luck with this effort, compadres. Castro, Inc. will only give up Chesimard if a huge stash of dollars is delivered to Havana or some appropriate Swiss bank. So, if there is no money involved, forget about her return to the U.S.

Chesimard/Shakur is revered in the leftist universe as a righteous social justice warrior. But you can bet your bottom dollar that if the right amount of cash were to be offered for her, Castro, Inc. would gladly boot her murderous ass out of Cuba immediately, faster than the speed of light.

Convicted cop-killer Joanne Chesimard remains in Cuba, and Robert Menendez has launched a new push to return her to the U.S.

Menendez, D-N.J., teamed up with a fellow Cuban-American senator. Marco Rubio of Florida, and introduced a resolution calling for the immediate extradition of Chesimard and other fugitives now living in Cuba.

“As we seek a more responsible U.S.-Cuba policy, we must make it clear that Cuba must end the shameful practice of harboring to American fugitives who have committed egregious acts, including murdering American police officers, hijacking planes, or trafficking arms,” said Menendez, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

The Fraternal Order of Police endorsed the resolution in a letter to Menendez and Rubio, saying “the blood of American law enforcement officers shed while doing their job in American soil demands justice and the deliberate protection of these killers should not be tolerated within the community of nations.”

  1. Castro, Inc. knows “progressives,” starting with prominent black Americans, back Chesimard at least implicitly. She’s good for PR with the regime’s target audience, which is NOT those who want justice (and she’s largely cheated that already anyway). It’s not as good as the Mandela connection, but good enough.
