Prepárate! Get ready for a Hollywood flick about the CIA, the Mafia, and bungled attempts to kill Fidel Castro

Ron Howard, a.k.a. Ronnie Howard / Opie

From our Bureau of Enduring and Indestructible Legacies of The Godfather Part Two

Get ready, you people who belong to “those people,” a,k.a. Cuban exiles.

Ron Howard has been chosen to direct a film on a failed CIA -Mafia plot to kill Cuba’s Maximum Leader.

It is supposed to be based on a “true story.” Yeah, you know how that works… especially when it comes to Hollywood interpretations of Cuban history.

Hang on to your dentures, Mildred! The scriptwriter is Tyler Hisel, who is also working on another Cuba movie with Puerto Rican actor Benicio “Che” del Toro, an outspoken Castrophiliac. That one is about the Cuban Mafia. Hoo boy.

Uh, oh… Howard is a talented director, but will he be able to overcome Hollywood’s Castrophilia?

From Deadline:

Paramount Pictures has set Ron Howard to direct The Fixer, a Tyler Hisel script that tells the true story of a disgraced FBI agent, who at the height of the Cold War, is tapped by the CIA to lead a ragtag team of CIA operatives and Chicago mobsters on an unlikely mission to try to assassinate Fidel Castro.

The pic is produced by Imagine’s Brian Grazer, Joint Effort’s Bradley Cooper & Todd Phillips, and Andrew Panay.

  1. We need to be like the chicanos who have raised a major stink about a novel “AMERICAN DIRT,” written by a non-Latina white woman that they say depicts chicanos inacturately. This is what they say:

“A reductive version of the complaints about American Dirt claims that the novel’s detractors believe that a white woman should not write about the experiences of Latino migrants. In truth, nearly all of the considered criticism of the novel points out either inaccuracies or stereotypes that, according to Myriam Gurba’s widely shared review on the site Tropics of Meta, betray Cummins’ lack of knowledge about her subject matter and attempt to render a complex situation and culture into “trauma porn” palatable to an American readership—a readership envisioned as primarily white. Hollywood has been doing that with us for years. Sad thing is that we get it from both sides. We are low-life gangbangers and ghetto trash when they want us to be, but at the same time, we are milliionaires with extraordinary power in the Halls of Congress who run American foreign policy on Cuba to the detriment of the USA, we are white when they want us to be white and brown when they want us to be brown. So you know what, f–k it! We have to stop being so decent and be like chicanos. Truth is that the chicanos have nothing to complain about. There is a lot of crime in Mexico, there are horrible drug cartels. American Dirt is not an inaccurae depiction of Mexicans. We are the other hand are truly being slandered on a massive national level. And we’re just going to sit there and take it.

  2. Yes, Ray, the most sensible or practical approach is to be ourselves and do our thing, and to hell with those who will only (pretend to) accept us if we fit into their template for minorities–or more accurately, for useful tools. What PC Cubanoids apparently don’t get is that nobody genuinely respects what they really are; it’s just that the usual suspects are only as frank about that as it suits them to be.

For starters, we should not even begin to put up with “expertise” on anything Cuba-related from the likes of a Colombian asswipe who happens to work for the New York Times or a Venezuelan (!) who works for WaPo, let alone a Jon Lee Anderson or a Julia Sweig, not to mention anyone even remotely “compromised” by ties to Castro, Inc. At the very least we need to have self-respect and behave with tolerable dignity.

  3. And by the way, Opie gets Cuba like I get Australian aborigines, if that. As for the Be-necio moron, don’t get me started. Let’s just say the Puerto Rican batting average is piss poor, not that the Cubanoid one is better.
