Sec. of State Blinken denies knowledge of exposed plot by Cuba to interfere in Colombian elections

Either Blinken doesn’t care much about Latin America and doesn’t follow even the huge news stories from the region or he’s feigning ignorance. Neither looks good on him.

Antony Blinken denies knowing about dossier exposing Cuban interference in Colombia

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he was not aware of a dossier published in January by Colombia’s Revista Semana where an alleged plot by the Cuban regime to interfere with that country’s internal political process was exposed.

The State Dept. official was asked about the plot by Cuban American congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar during a session on Wednesday of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

“I asked Secretary of State Antony Blinken about Colombia. He denied knowing about the dossier from Revista Semana exposing Cuba’s interference and I asked him if he supported the efforts by Ivan Duque to eradicate coca cultivation in Colombia,” Salazar posted on Twitter.

The dossier published by Revista Semana exposes the alleged plans by the regime in Havana to interfere with the 2022 elections and destabilize the country.

  1. The guy looks like a somewhat less prissy and less, uh, maquillada version of Gavin Newsom. As I’ve already said, expecting him to do right by Cuba is painfully naive, not least because he’s just a tool.
