Opposition in Cuba calls on international community to intercede for the life of Luis Manuel Otero Alcantara

The international community needs to do what it has never done in more than 60 years: Come together and unequivocally condemn the communist Castro dictatorship for its brutal repression.

Cuban opposition asks leaders to intercede to save the life of Luis Manuel Otero Alcantara

More than a dozen activists and representatives of Cuba’s independent civil society have sent a letter to the international community to alert them that the life of artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcantara is is grave danger.

The signers of the letter demand the Cuban government provide proof of life for Otero Alcantara and end the repression.

The letter is addressed to Pope Francis; Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General; President Joe Biden and representatives of the U.S. administration; Josep Borrell, EU Foreign Relations and Security Policy High Representative and other members of the European Parliament; U.S. Congress; leaders and parliament members of democratic nations; Human rights organizations; bishops, priests, and Catholic laity in Cuba; pastors, churches, and evangelicals; the peaceful opposition and independent civil society in Cuba.
