Luis Robles speaks from the Combinado del Este prison: While I have the strength I will continue denouncing injustice

“I am going to continue defending what I believe regardless of the consequences. The day I see an injustice and fear denouncing it because of a threat I will stop being me. I will always defend what I believe in and what I feel. While I have the strength, I will continue denouncing what is wrong,” said political prisoner Luis Robles Eliazástigui on Sunday.

Robles, who is a prisoner at the Combinado del Este in Havana, made this statement during a telephone call with his brother Landy Fernandez Eliazástigui in response to State Security’s attempts at intimidation.

“I have received several threats from State Security that if I do another protest, “something” could happen to me. I want to make it clear that from this moment on that I hold them and the Cuban government responsible for any harm that may come to me,” he said.

He also mentioned the international solidarity all Cuban political prisoners have received.

“The international struggle is for all, not just for me,” said the young man.

Robles’ case has been brought before international organizations by the Cuban Prisoners Defenders NGO.

On July 4th it will be seven months since the young man was imprisoned for standing on the San Rafael Boulevard in Old Havana holding up an improvised sign calling for the end of repression and the release of Denis Solis, a dissident rapper sentenced to 8 months of prison for disrespect.
