Mother of peaceful Cuban protestor murdered by Castro State Security commits suicide

Mother of young man killed during protests commits suicide

The mother of Diubis Laurencio Tejeda, a young man of 36 killed by the repression unleashed during protests against the Cuban regime on July 11, has committed suicide. The news comes from Darcy Borrero, a journalist based in Miami.

“The mother of the young man they murdered [Laurencio] committed suicide yesterday,” a local doctor told Borrero. The doctor has been working in the La Guinera neighborhood of Arroyo Naranjo (Havana) where the incident took place for 16 years.

According to the doctor, the mother died after she “took some pills” since the young man killed at the protests (the only death the government has confirmed), “was his only son,” said Borrero in Diario Las Americas.

On July 13 the Cuban government announced the violent death of Laurencio Tejeda during the protests. The government accused him of being part of “anti-social elements and delinquents” that had tried to take the police station.
