“Fact-Checking” is how The Castro/Che Guevara regime kicked-off their quickly forthcoming outlawing of a free press, under penalty of exile, torture-chamber and/or firing squad. The Cuban Stalinists called them “clarifications”–but Cuba’s newspapermen quickly dubbed them “Coletillas” (remember, historic exiles?)

Oh, they (the KGB-mentored apparatchiks) never claimed it was censorship. They claimed it was simply “the people” ( labor unions, etc.) “correcting the lies of reactionaries” etc. But at the time (late 1959.) Che Guevara had already confided to early revolutionary (and perennial scoundrel, though exiled) Jose Pardo Llada that:

“We must eliminate all newspapers; we cannot make a revolution with free press. Newspapers are instruments of the oligarchy.” (Che Guevara, Jan. 1959.)
