Being a dissident and opposing the Castro dictatorship is very dangerous in communist Cuba. However, it appears it’s not much safer being one of the regime’s generals.

Reserves General Felix Baranda Columbie dies, the ninth since July 11
Cuba’s Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) announced the death of Reserves Major General Felix Baranda Columbie, a victim of COVID-19.
In a brief announcement read during the Midday News on state-run television, the ministry said the retired officer died on August 28, but did not give his age at the time of death.
According to the announcement, Baranda Columbie began his career in Raul Castro’s guerrilla squad as a soldier in the Frank Pais Second Easter Front, where he remained until the war ended.
After 1959, he held positions in the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) before going back to the Revolutionary Armed Forces, where he worked on legal issues and later became Director of MINFAR. He also was part of the Cuban troops who fought in Angola.
Bis body will be cremated and his ashes placed in the Veterans Pantheon until they are transferred to the Second Front Mausoleum, the announcement said.
This is the ninth death of a high-ranking Cuban military official since July 11. Since that day, public obituaries by state-run media for high-ranking officials have been frequent.
Two weeks ago, they announced the death of Reserves Brigadier General Arnoldo Ferrer Martinez, who fought in the Sierra Maestra under the command of Fidel Castro.

“…until the war ended.” War? What war? You mean people hiding out in the mountains and playing at “war”?
Talk about, uh, highly imprecise language, not to say bullshit.
So who is killing them and why?
It can’t all be natural causes?
Although they are all old.
