Cuban refugee on makeshift raft hospitalized after being rescued by boaters off Florida coast

As we reported yesterday, a lone Cuban refugee watched three of his friends die in their attempt to escape communist Cuba before he was spotted and rescued by boaters in South Florida. He is now hospitalized.

Via Miami’s Local 10 News:

A man was rescued from the ocean waters off the coast of Miami.

A U.S. Coast Guard rescue team was notified by a boater Saturday around 1 p.m. that there was a man on a makeshift raft that needed help.

That man reportedly told rescues that he and three others left Cuba 10 days ago.

He told them the other men died on the journey, authorities said.

The Coast Guard said the man was in rough shape. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Socialism is the only political ideology today that drives people to throw themselves into shark-infested waters to escape it.

  1. He should have been content with “free” health care in Cuba. The usual suspects couldn’t care less.
