Cuba named one of the top 50 countries where Christians are most persecuted

Socialist revolutions have no tolerance for religious faith, and that’s exactly the case in communist Cuba.

Cuba among 50 countries in the world where Christians are most persecuted

Cuba has come in at number 37 on Open Door’s World Watch List for 2022, a report by the international organization put out annually documenting the harassment of Christians throughout the world and listing the 50 most dangerous countries.

“Since 2012 Cuba has not been included in the list by Open Doors, which has decades of work monitoring violence against Christians, from Catholics to Protestants, in their diverse expressions of faith,” said writer and journalist Yoe Suarez, who specializes in religious freedom in Cuba.

“Several parameters have been evaluated, such as access to communication by believers, which is controlled in Cuba, and not just for the faithful,” he said.

“In addition, they are taking into account arrests, the demolishment of places of worship, and other attacks against churches. And this year, as in the previous years, believers have experienced the impossibility of constructing new churches and being able to repair the ones that already exist,” said the evangelical journalist.

The report highlights the increase in violence against Christians on the island and classifies the persecution of churchgoers and their leaders, which are considered antagonists, as “very high.”
