Biden moves forward with unilateral concessions to Cuba’s Castro dictatorship

The Biden administration continues to cement its legacy as the gang that can’t shoot straight. Even when they do something right (excluding Cuba’s murderous regime from the Summit of the Americas), they always find a way to screw it up. As the Summit of the Americas is taking place in Los Angeles, the Treasury Department announces that Biden’s unilateral concessions to the communist Castro dictatorship opening up American tourist travel to the island and remittances that will line the pockets of the regime will go into effect this week.

The United States on Wednesday moved to lift some Trump-era restrictions on remittances and travel to Cuba even as it fended off criticism for blocking the Communist-run island and long-time foe from attending a regional summit this week.

The amended regulations, set to be published in the U.S. Federal Register on Thursday, will provide further fine print around a broader easing of U.S. restrictions on Cuba first announced by the administration of President Joe Biden in May.

A Treasury Department official said publication of the new regulations was purposefully aligned with the U.S.-hosted Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles.

As the Treasury Department readily admits, the timing of the unilateral concessions going into effect is no coincidence. Lacking the courage to stand on principle, the Biden administration instead chooses to kneel in appeasement not only to the Castro dictatorship, but to to corrupt regional leaders such as Mexico’s president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

As the last 17 months have shown America and the world, ill-advised decisions and bad timing are the hallmark of this administration.

  1. This what Dems do and have repeatedly and consistently done. Everyone knows it. We may not be able to stop it, but any Cuban with due dignity and self-respect should never vote for any Dem for any office. I know the Republicans may be of little or no use, but at least they’re much less likely to make things worse.
