No surprise, really. Whether or not Castrogonia is top dog is immaterial. Statistics of this sort can be fuzzy because they iinvolve repressive governments that never provide correct information. But the undeniable fact is that the percentage of the Cuban population currently imprisoned is among the highest in the world.
Socialism or death! Come on down tourists! We promise you a dream holiday and every luxury you can afford. Never mind how many of our noble savages are in prison. They deserve it for complaining about our utopia.

Cuba has the highest rate of prisoners worldwide, according to the 2021 Annual Report of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), which was published on July 23.
This document indicates that “considering the total number of inhabitants of the country, reported by the World Bank, as well as the figures presented by civil society regarding the detained population, Cuba would be the country with the highest rate of prison population per capita at the level world. This, when accounting for about 882 people deprived of liberty for every 100,000 inhabitants. The total number of prisoners in Cuba is estimated to be around 127,000
Likewise, mention is made of the overcrowding conditions, negligent medical care, inadequate nutrition, lack of water for personal hygiene, lack of ventilation, and precarious hygienic and health conditions in the island’s prisons, contrary to the false image that the regime has tried to divulge.
“These deplorable conditions would have been the cause of outbreaks of tuberculosis, acute diarrheal diseases and others transmitted by parasites such as scabies. In addition, according to public information, they would have also led to people deprived of liberty suffering from scabies and leprosy,” reported Cuba in Miami.
