Biden’s Cuba Thaw 2.0 is well on its way, and the optics on this new iteration of a failed policy of appeasement and unilateral concessions to a murderous dictatorship are every bit as bad as Obama’s version 1.0. Over the weekend, we reported on the visit to Cuba by U.S. Representatives James Patrick McGovern (D-MA), Mark Pocan (D-WI), and Troy Anthony Carter (D-LA) and their meeting with Cuba’s one-party National Assembly, which is in place to serve the interests of the Communist Party, not the people.
The visit by the three Democrats received virtually no coverage by the media. It wasn’t until days later, after the Cuban state-run media plastered images all over social media of the three congressman meeting with high-ranking communist party officials, including the Castro dictatorship’s sock puppet president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, that real coverage began.
A delegation of at least three U.S. lawmakers visited Havana and met with Cuba’s government this week, American and Cuban officials confirmed.
Reps. James McGovern (D-MA), Mark Pocan (D-WI) and Troy Carter (D-LA) met with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, leaders in Cuba’s congress and its foreign minister, the U.S. Embassy in Cuba told The Associated Press on Sunday.
It’s one of just a handful of such visits to the island in recent decades. While officials provided few details about what was discussed, Díaz-Canel and Cuba’s Congress tweeted photos of the meetings.
One photo shows Rep. McGovern shaking hands with the Cuban leader and another shows the politicians meeting with other Cuban officials.
As I mentioned earlier, the optics on this visit are pretty bad. Here you have three sitting members of the U.S. House of Representatives shaking hands with and sympathizing with the most corrupt, oppressive, and murderous dictatorship in the Western Hemisphere.
As bad as Obama’s limp-wristed pose in Havana and doing the wave with dictator Raul Castro at a baseball game looked, it seems Biden and the Democrats are hellbent on looking worse.
They would NOT be doing this with a right-wing dictatorship, but such hypocrisy has been “normalized.”
They are getting their lessons in how to make the overthrow of The U.S. government go more easily.
So very true. The American left just copies what the Cuban government is doing. It is coming along very well, In Washington DC we now have January 6th political prisoners. We have even begun torture. Americans don’t have to play second fiddle to Cuba, we can be just as evil as the big boys.
