Just because Cubans are starving and forced to live in poverty, that doesn’t mean the ruling class has to suffer wearing a Timex. Thanks to socialism, the Communist Party elite are afforded the finest capitalist luxuries.
Photos of Lis Cuesta, the wife of the Castro dictatorship’s sock puppet president Miguel Diaz-Canel, have surfaced showing her wearing a Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch, which carries a $6,250 price tag. For an average Cuba to acquire this fine timepiece, they would have to save every penny of their salaries for more than 17 years. But who’s counting?
The average Cuban lives in poverty, struggling daily to find enough food to eat and medicine to treat the most basic illnesses, while their rulers live the lifestyle of the rich and communist. You can chalk this one up as another glorious achievement of the socialist revolution.
No matter how expensive the watch, it’s not helping her overall “look” at all. Still, at least she’s not wearing an expensive watch on both wrists simultaneously, like Fidel Castro used to do.
