Nine Cuban refugees missing after their boat capsizes off the Florida coast

A boat with ten Cuban refugees who escaped the communist Castro dictatorship capsized off the coast of Lake Worth on Monday. One was rescued, but the Coast Guard is still searching for the other nine.

Via Miami’s Local 10 News:

Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard searched for nine suspected Cuban migrants in the waters off Palm Beach County, the agency said Monday morning.

According to the Coast Guard, a good Samaritan rescued a person from the water near Lake Worth Beach Sunday afternoon.

“The survivor reported he and (nine) others left Cuba on Dec. 10 (and) the vessel capsized early Sunday morning,” the Coast Guard tweeted.

It’s heartbreaking how Cubans continue to throw themselves into the sea and risk their lives to escape the tyranny of communism, and the world still turns a blind eye to their misery.
