Cuban YouTuber Hildina is threatened with being fired from her job
In a post on social media, Cuban YouTuber Hilda Nuñez Diaz, known as Hildina, says she was threatened with being fired from her job at Eastern University over her videos critical of the system.
“Something I and all of you have been fearing could happen since I started making videos showing the reality we live in Cuba finally came to pass,” begins the video clip posted December 16 on Facebook by the Cuban professor.
The young woman, who graduated from that university with a degree in Industrial Engineering, taught classes there, although she has been on leave due to her pregnancy and upcoming maternity leave.
Nevertheless, Nuñez recently received a call from Eastern University recently inviting her to an event none of her colleagues had been invited to, raising her suspicions.
“I was reprimanded by the faculty office, they were trying to scare me saying that if I continued making videos, the situation would escalate. But I made it clear to them that I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I was showing reality, I wasn’t telling any lies, and if that was going to bring me repercussions, I would accept that,” she said.
University officials, who answer to the Cuban regime, questioned her ideals and told her she could be a “negative influence” for her students.
“If that’s the justification they want to use to expel or fire me from my job, I remind them that Fidel said that ‘the revolution is equality and total freedom, being treated and treating others as human beings, which is never lying or violating ethical principles.’ And that’s what I feel I’m doing with my videos, telling the truth about what we Cubans live through day to day, what my eyes see. It’s something I’m not going to stop doing,” she declared.
The Observatory for Academic Liberty has repudiated these threats against the Cuban YouTuber and stated that this is the modus operandi of the dictatorship against those who dissent or use their freedom of expression.

Another pseudo-Cuban. She’s obviously too white to be a real one. Just ask the people who know best (hint: they’re not Cuban).
