  1. There are no such women left in Cuba; they either left or died off. The would-be crème de la crème now is a creature like Mariela Castro, who has practically nothing in common with the Condesa de Merlin.

  2. Lovely podcast. I had a Spanish grandmother named Mercedes with a beautiful singing voice. But unfortunately she was not a Countess nor from Madrid but rather Malaga.
