Rosa Maria Paya criticizes the talks between the U.S. and the Cuban dictatorship

Opposition leader and director of Cuba Decide, Rosa maria Paya took to Twitter to speak about the talks on bilateral interest between the U.S. government and Havana that took place on January 18 and 19.

In her tweet, Paya emphasized that the Cuban people want to be a part of their own history and called into question the rapprochement between the White House and Havana.

“No one is asking POTUS to solve our problems, but at a minimum, he shouldn’t help the oppressors.”

Her message sparked comments rejecting of the new dialogue between the two governments. Vladimir Olivero Vizcay wrote: “You don’t dialogue with dictatorships […] Down with communism.”

Others commented on the irony that the meetings were set up to discuss the rule of law, while Cuba is a nation that doesn’t respect the rule of law. In addition, the close relationships the dictatorship maintains with other totalitarian regimes were also mentioned.

“Cuba doesn’t respect any laws. The U.S. is promoting rapprochement with the mafia governing in Cuba, which at the same time is holding talks with representatives from Russia.”

  1. BINGO. There’s no point expecting any outside entity to free Cuba, because it’s beyond clear that won’t happen, but Cubans ARE entitled to expect that supposedly decent and freedom-loving countries will NOT make matters worse and thus become part of the problem, as in complicit with evil.
