Communist Cuba provides a perfect example of what equity and inclusion looks like in practice. This is socialism in action.

Havantur offers stays in hotels that cost at least three Cuban doctor salaries

Havanatur S.A.,, Cuba’s state-owned travel agency, published offers for stays in four hotels on the island that can be purchased with the national currency. The minimum price for a one-night stay is three times the salary of a Cuban doctor.

The four hotels, which according to the ad posted on the agency’s Facebook page can be reserved online, are Hotel Iberostar Selection Varadero, Hotel Iberostar Tainos, Hotel Iberostar Daiguiri, and Hotel Iberostar Bella Costa. The four properties offer “all-inclusive” service.

The last hotel, which is a 4-star and located on Varadero beach, has the cheapest room rates starting at 16,560 Cuban pesos (CUP) per night and per room. A medical doctor in Cuba earns 5,500 CUP a month, which means he would have to save up three months of salary to be able to stay one night on the property.

To stay at the Iberostar Tainos, also located in Varadeo and only seven kilometers from a golf course included among the “wide range of recreational activities,” a Cuban doctor would have to save up four months of salary. The price for one night in one room on this property is 21,600 CUP.

Rooms at the Iberostar Daiguiri start at 17,760 CUP, while at the Iberostar Selection Varadero, the rooms there start at 39,120 CUP per night.
