July 11 protests political prisoner asks Biden not to remove Cuba from the State Sponsors of Terror list

July 11 protests political prisoner Loreto Hernandez Garcia has sent a letter to U.S. president Joe Biden asking him to keep Cuba on the State Sponsors of Terror list.

“From the maximum security prison in Santa Clara, Villa Clara, known as Guamajal, Loreto has sent a letter to the U.S. president that specifically asks him not to remove the regime in Havana from the list of states that sponsor terrorism,” said former Cuban political prisoner Jorge Luis Garcia Perez “Antunez,” the brother of Hernandez Garcia.

Hernandez Garcia, a Yoruba priest, argues in his letter that “the Cuban regime has in the past and continues to have sufficient cause” to remain on the blacklist.

The clergyman, who is the husband of political prisoner Donaida Perez Paseiro, cites in his letter to Biden the “victims of political terrorism by the dictatorship,” such as those who died in “the Rio Canimar and 13 de Marzo tugboat massacres,” among others. He also exposes the “the danger of dying” that he and his wife face in prison, along with the abuses committed against political prisoners and the repression suffered by members of the opposition, said Antunez.

In his missive, Hernandez Garcia references the permanent internal terrorism the Cuban people are subjected to by the Cuban regime, citing “the specific specifically the more than 100 women imprisoned, along with the number of children imprisoned for peacefully protest on July 11, 2021,” explained the exiled opposition leader.
